Devlog #5

Hey look, it's a ball.
Wow. Amazing.
This one's something I actually added to Test Project Githo, rather than for my Minecraft mod.
It just bounces around; not yet very significant gameplay-wize, but a milestone nonetheless.
(notably, I am following special restrictions with this project which make things a bit more tricky to design than they otherwise might be)
My latest Minecraft mod is another that ended up taking significantly longer than anticipated.
This is likely due to the fact that I finished overriding all vanilla crafting recipe JSON files, and made all relevant replacements within my JSON-generating recipe provider class.
This update seems to have taken the longest to upload to Git (for version control) out of all the updates so far.
There were quite a few things to go through before finishing this process, but now I'll be able to create/modify my own recipes (or my own versions of vanilla recipes) much more easily, as I won't need to be disabling or cross-referencing the vanilla recipes one-by-one as necessary.
Now, everything's all just set up in my recipe provider class now for easy access and modification!
On August 25th, I began keeping a record of the amount of time I spent working on my projects (via a stopwatch timer).
Presently, I am only keeping track of my Minecraft mod and Test Project Githo.
I only count the time spent actively constructing a project. This includes coding and documentation management, but does not include mere thinking/ideating (which does not produce perceptible progress). For my Minecraft mod, I do not include playtesting, and only sometimes include documentation management. For Test Project Githo, I am including playtesting, documentation management, and coding.
I don't include any time spent while only partially occupied with the work (such as when working with a YouTube video playing on the side). I also discount artwork production.
I've still been getting used to using the stopwatch timer (and remembering to set it and pause it), so the recorded time for my Minecraft mod is somewhat disproportionately low.
Total time spent actively working (since August 25th up to now):
Minecraft mod | 12 hours, 32 minutes |
Test Project Githo | 38 minutes |
Time was recorded on a daily basis, and rounded down to the minute.
Milestones Completed:
2/30
Since last devlog: 1
Only one milestone this time, but at least the total milestone requirement didn't increase!
